Business Printer

Expanding your business is no easy task.  But for those business owners who decide that expansion is the right move, one must make careful decisions when looking at the resources currently used in the business and be practical when adding or eliminating resources. Even small decisions made in the wrong direction can be the difference between growth and defeat.

One such resource that is often misused or just plain overlooked is the office printer.  Utilized properly and efficiently, this piece of equipment can save money, manpower and prevent adding unnecessary expenses that most business owners may feel are unavoidable. Here are just 3 ways your office printer can help you expand your business without having to expand your wallet:

  • Postage…Do more in less time
  • Producing New Marketing Materials In-House...Save $$
  • Purchase an All-in-One Printer…the Upgrade that keeps on giving

Postage is a common expense for most small businesses that increases dramatically when adding the actual cost of postage to the labor involved getting mailings out.  Larger businesses endure the expense of procuring their own postage meter from the United States Postal Service and loading it with pre-paid postage via telephone or online. This is efficient, but also costly.  Small business owners make trips to the Post Office which is cost effective, but not as efficient. The solution? Register the business and create an account with the U.S. Postal Service online www.usps.com. Business owners can buy stamps, create mailing lists and print postage right from the office printer and request a pickup of the mail each day.  Printing postage from your office printer saves time and money.

Producing New Marketing Materials In-House can seem quite daunting.  As well it is tempting to outsource this task to a mass print company or copy store in an effort to save time.  The problem is that although some manpower is conserved, one usually must purchase a large volume of materials to see any value.  Print items such as business cards, letterhead, etc. that will not change are worth the volume. NEW Marketing Materials, Flyers and Brochures announcing the expansion, specials or promotions are not needed in large quantities, as they will change over time to reflect new promotions and ads as your expansion progresses. Tip: Print these items using black ink on colored paper to control the cost of ink.

Purchase an All-in-One-Printer; otherwise know as a Print/Copy/Fax machine. Although this is a suggested expense, it is one piece of equipment that a growing small business cannot do without. An All-in-One will allow you to streamline the way that your company paper trail is handled as a one stop shop for multiple tasks, saving time.  Having only one machine will save electricity; thus saving money.  Finally, one machine, one type of ink; needless to say the potential for savings are endless.

Proper use of your office printer can aid your expansion, save time and money; Money that perhaps in the not-so-distant future could be used to take a well deserved vacation.

ink cartridges

It is almost impossible to find an office anywhere that does not have some sort of printer;  whether it is an all-in-one, which does just about everything, or a small simple one to just print documents.  Either way, it most likely will be one of the three main kinds of printers used today in most homes and offices: laser, inkjet, or dot matrix.

A lot of people consider the dot matrix printers to be outdated and past their prime.  However, they do have their uses and can be more reliable at times than their counterparts.  The print quality cannot really be compared to the laser or inkjet printers, but many manufacturing companies use them still to print invoices and labels.

The dot matrix printer is considered an “impact” printer.  This is because it actually strikes the paper as it prints, much like a typewriter.    Continuous feeding paper can be used to print several carbon copies; requiring less ink in the process.  Printing invoices in this manner is very convenient, because multiple copies in various colors can be printed all at once and distributed immediately.  These printers tend to be slow and use only a few fonts, so they are gradually becoming identifiable with only certain industries.

The laser printer is probably more popular in large offices and corporations.  If a small office is able to buy one, they have the advantage of higher resolution and thus, better quality documents. These printers tend to be more expensive than inkjets initially, but their “toner” cartridges usually last longer than the ink cartridges used for inkjet printers.  That isn’t to say that the cartridges for laser printers aren’t expensive; they are.  The maintenance of these machines can be quite expensive too; however, if quality is most important and money isn’t the issue, then a laser printer is the way to go.

Unlike laser printers, inkjets usually cost less to initially buy.  However, since the printers themselves are relatively cheap, some feel the manufacturing companies are making up for the lower prices in the customer’s cost of ink.  Some companies even put a “chip” in their cartridges to let the printer know when it is out of ink.  Although these cartridges can be refilled by the consumer, the printer will not work because the chip still communicates that it is empty.

Even with expensive inks that smudge when they get wet, the inkjet printers do have some advantages. They don’t have to be “warmed up” to begin printing like the laser printers, and they print better photos.  There are also inks available that tend to smudge less, although they are not as readily accessible as regular ink. The inkjet is a lot quieter than the dot matrix and much faster too.

All these types of printers have good and bad characteristics, depending on the opinion of the person using them.  Some are expensive but have better quality, while others cost less but are limited in their functions.  No matter which one is being used, they all have their purpose and fulfill it well.

Canon Printer

Canon has always been a savvy company.  Coming up with new and better products for consumers.  Easy to use and functional for years.  Canon implements new ideas and innovations with every product, and they constantly seek the newest technologies, experimenting and testing to see what works best.

Canon’s new photo printers utilize some of the best color printing technologies possible.  Not only are the photos of lab-quality, they are also give a quick special coating in order to ensure that the photos you print last for centuries.  Dubbed ChromaLife, it also includes Canon’s particular range of inks that give photos and other printouts a superior quality and glossiness.

Canon printers are made to offer customers the best resolution possible while continuing to keep up with other competing printers.  Pages per minute has always been one of the biggest selling points, each company trying to top the other in showcasing just how quick their printer ejects finished pages.

With more projects available for printers, their ability to handle size has increased.  Large-format printers handle media as large as 1.5 meters in width.  This gives people the ability to print out items as large as posters.  If your computer has wireless abilities, then you can obtain a wireless printer.  Fast and easy to set up, you can even put multiple computers on the network and give each one the ability to print on the same printer.

A great way to see all the strides that Canon has made is by visiting their webpage.  They include an entire electronic booklet outlining all their technologies.  They include the history of where the technology began, how it works, and where it will go in the future.  Everything from printers to their digital cameras is outlined in full detail.  You can see the intricacies of their machines, the reasons behind creating different methods, the ends achieved.

As science progresses, so too will Canon’s ability to change and adapt.  Who knows how long it will be before we can give voice commands to our printers, telling them to print a photo in black and white, size 4”x6”?  Or perhaps Canon will go green, not only using better ways to project ink onto paper, but using soy and vegetable-based ink instead.  Already they have photo printers that talk back, touch screens to pick and choose options, and allowing different media to interact with one another seamlessly.  Every day things change and grow – the possibilities at Canon’s fingertips are seemingly endless.  All we have to do is wait for them to be discovered.

Will printers be smarter than us?  While they may outsmart the average consumer in their abilities and technologies, they are only as smart as the people that make them.  In the end, we are the ones who tell the printers what we want to print and how we want it printed.  Unless, of course, things get to a point where we can communicate with them mentally.  Even then, what is a printer without someone that needs it to print?

Epson Ink Cartridges

Epson printers have been one of the biggest selling names for some time, and while their biggest first release was one of the old dot matrix style printers that still took ribbons, most of their selection today is comprised of inkjet style printers that require Epson ink cartridges models in a  variety of shapes and sizes. While these sell quite well in stores across the country, you do occasional get a printer error, even with the right cartridge. Here are a few of the most common errors individuals experience.

Print Head Clogs – While Epson ink cartridge choices should come with the perfect ink, more often than not, customers complain about the print head getting clogged. Fortunately, there are a few simple ways to prevent this error. You can start by accessing your computer’s control panel about once a month. There you’ll find a command that allows you to clean the printer with a press of a button. Keep in mind that you will use a sheet of paper or two during this process as well as a bit of ink, but it can save you time and quite a bit of hassle.

Communication Error – In some cases, the printer never gets the message that it needs to print a document, and this can be caused by a variety of things. If you’re using a fairly new program on your computer to print a document, you may want to check its settings to ensure it is defaulted to the right printer. You may also want to check connections to ensure that nothing has gotten unplugged. If all else fails, go into the printer’s control panel and print a test page to ensure it is receiving messages from your computer. Occasionally, you may have to reinstall to make it work properly.

Slow Printing – Lots of people who install a new Epson ink cartridge complain that their printer is suddenly going too slowly. More often than not, this is a settings issue. You can choose the quality of each piece you print, and if you select ‘best’ for everything, you’ll be wasting time and ink. Select draft mode on those pieces you don’t need to be high quality, and you’ll get much better, and faster, results in the long run.

When you replace your Epson ink cartridges, it is possible to make a wrong move that can cause an error, but more often than not, the cause of the error is elsewhere.

bluetooth for printers

Before Bluetooth was invented, there were a number of things that were often difficult to do, including printing in your home from different computers. Most people now have more than one computer in their home – some people have two desktops and two laptops! When Bluetooth technology was invented, companies began to realize that they could utilize this technology in order to make things much easier for homeowners. If you’re interested in making it easier to print from any computer in your house, learning about Bluetooth technology, and how a Bluetooth enabled printer works, is one way to help you to figure out if this technology is for you, and if you can save HP ink cartridges by using this technology.

Range

There are a number of things that most people don’t realize about Bluetooth technology. The first thing is what the range for these printers is. The printers that utilize Bluetooth technology can only work through short range. Having Bluetooth technology means that you can’t be too far away from the printer that you’re trying to print on when you hit the button to print on your computer or else the printer will not recognize that you are trying to contact it. The average range for a printer with Bluetooth technology is anywhere from 30 to 200 feet. If you are further away than 200 feet, you will likely find that your HP ink cartridges have not moved at all and that you don’t get anything printed.

Another thing to learn about Bluetooth printers is that they often have USB ports. These USB ports makes printing much easier. You can, for instance, use Pictbridge in order to make it easier to print things from your cell phone or PDA. Pictbridge is used to translate documents or photos from these items so that the printer can understand what you want it to print. This is a very fun factor of Bluetooth enabled printers and makes many people run through their HP ink cartridges more frequently, as they have many things on their cell phones or their PDA that they would like to have printed.

The Downside

There is one downside to Bluetooth enabled printers, and that is the ability for them to get hacked into. These printers can be hacked into fairly easily, which could cause a number of problems for the average homeowner. One way to keep yourself from being hacked is to make sure that your printer is not set to the discoverable mode. This helps your computer from being seen by other people and helps you to stay safe from hackers who could damage your printer and who could use that printer to connect to your computer which could then cause even more problems.

If you’re interested in making sure that you get the most from your HP ink cartridges, it is best to learn as much as you can about your Bluetooth printers so that you are able to truly enjoy your printer and your ink cartridges.

Printing Business Cards

Despite the fact that this is the technological age and most work gets by e-mail or over cell phones, there are certain times that meeting in person is required.  Meeting others in person is still the best way to network, whether it is to get a new job or to find contacts for your present business.  For decades, the best way to get your name out there, and to remember the names of those you have met, is by exchanging business cards.  Business cards are often also used for personal interactions, as a good way to give your name and phone number to a potential date.

Now that you know the importance of business cards, the question becomes a matter of how to create them.  Many regular print shops will print business cards for you.  Likely you will need to come up with the design and text yourself and give it to them in digital form.  There are also companies online that specialize in printing business cards.  They focus only on that aspect of business and you can make sure they will do a good job.  Some stores, both online and brick and mortar, will have a minimum amount of cards to print so that it is worth the effort to them.  For that reason, you may want to consider printing them yourself.

In addition to only wanting a small number of cards, there are other reasons to consider printing them yourself.  One reason is if you want to change your design every so often.  Rather than printing hundreds of the same card, you can print smaller batches of various designs.  Perhaps you want one look for personal use, one for business.  Or maybe you want one card to give out at certain networking events and other for another purpose.  It could be expensive to print all those different kinds at a print shop because each different design will cost extra.

If you decide to print your business cards at home, you will need to make sure that you use a good word processing program in which you can properly print the design of your card in the proper dimensions.  You will also need to get high quality heavy card stock paper.  You can chose matte or glossy paper per your preference.  You can use color or black and white ink, depending on how you want your cards to look.  In either case, make sure you are using good quality ink.  Don’t forget that you can save money by having your cartridges refilled rather than having to buy new ones.

For cutting the business cards, you will need to invest in a paper cutter.  That will ensure that you can have a nice, even, straight cut.  There is paper available that has perforated edges, but it does not look as good as using a paper cutter.

While it will take some work to make business cards yourself, the creative freedom and the lack of limitations on quantity may make it the best choice for your business.

Canon Ink Cartridges

We've all seen them sitting on the shelf - those replacement ink cartridges that promise to give you high quality printing at only a fraction of the price of Canon ink cartridges. The steep difference in price is often the reason why most of us purchase one of these less expensive cartridges and decide to give them a try in our printer, because, after all, what can go wrong when you've got a product that was designed to be a refill for your Canon printer, right?

Actually, That Is Right

While your motives may be purely financial the first time you purchase, what you'll often find is that the replacement supplies work just as well and last just as long for all of your Canon series printers. When you use Canon toner cartridges from a company that specializes in refill products, you're getting products that were made to be compatible with your machine. In some cases, they're even made in the same factories as the brand names. We understand the attraction of lower priced products, so providing you with high quality supplies at a fraction of the involved cost of the brand name is a natural selling point.

It's important to note that some companies offering refills aren't always as reputable as others. There are those who offer products with a significantly low output or choices that have lower quality, but when you turn to the right company, you're getting compatible choices that are designed to work in harmony with your brand name device, costing you significantly less at the outset. With a level of service you can trust, you'll always get great products for any printer series you may have invested in when you choose us. Moreover, you can also get fantastic office products like Canon toner cartridges for quite a bit less, ensuring your small business can reduce its budget instantly.

Real Cartridges - Real Costs

Brand name Canon choices are designed to go into your equipment in the office or at home. They have been specially designed to work well with equipment and issues like leakage will never come into play. Real brand name products are typically new, and they usually come with a guarantee. They're often available in office stores and from the manufacturer's web site for a premium that is competitive with the cost of the printers themselves.

Refurbished models stack up pretty well against that list, though. They're made to work with your printer too, and they're typically built right beside your brand name cartridges. Once you've found a great company like us to buy from, issues like leakage aren't present, and we have a guarantee to prove that. What's more is that these products are just as available thanks to our vast warehouse, and the costs are significantly less than what you might pay when you choose the manufacturer.

Toner Versus Ink Cartridges First there was the inkjet, fast and efficient.  Then came the laser printer, even faster and with better quality.  For the longest time, the laser printer held sway over the inkjet in terms of speed and clarity.  Except recently, the tables have turned again.  Each printer type continues to improve as companies strive for our business but only one thing remains the same. Ink vs. TonerThe Simple Explanation The true difference between an inkjet printer and a laser printer is their printing methods.  Though people often group the two based upon their speed, clarity, size, and other capabilities, the real separating factor is the way they print.  After all, some inkjet printers these days can be just as big as a laser printer. Inkjet printers use ink cartridges.  The ink in the cartridge will either be black or colored, depending upon your printing needs.  If the ink is color, three compartments within the cartridge keep cyan, magenta, and yellow ink apart.  The bottom of the cartridge has a set number of tiny nozzles.  When the printer is given a print job, the ink cartridge receives its orders and sprays out the ink in whatever pattern it is told to in order to give the desired results.  Ink cartridges are generally cheaper than toner cartridges, and now companies have split up the colors so you no longer have to throw out a color cartridge just because it ran out of a single color.  Now you can buy cyan, magenta, and yellow all separate, replacing only the color you need at an even cheaper price.  Black is still sold on its own. Toner is a different creature altogether.  If you have ever used a laser printer, you may have noticed a small period of time in which the printer seems to be “starting up.”  In some ways, it is.  The printer warms up the toner cartridge, which contains carbon particles mixed with a polymer.  The heat melts the mixture and then transfers it onto the paper, where it immediately dries.  This is why when papers roll out of a laser printer, they are warm. Typically, inkjet printers are slower than laser printers.  In many cases of more expensive products, this is still true.  However, companies are now coming up with ways to reinvent the inkjet printer, making it faster and more competitive with laser printers.  Because inkjets do not have to warm up any toner, they can simply print right away, and other innovations have stopped ink from smearing, even when highlighters are applied. Laser printers still tend to win with the clarity of their printing, though.  They are still very fast and strongly preferred by the majority of businesses.  However, they tend to be more expensive, and if you want to print out high-quality color images, an inkjet is the better choice. When deciding on a printer for your home, inkjet and laser are pretty close overall.  You need to consider what you will be printing and which type will best suit your needs.

Business Ink Cartridges For many, the idea of starting their own business is an exciting prospect. For once you’re able to be the boss and to design your own schedule. You’re solely responsible for the amount of money that you are able to earn and the potential that your business has also rests on your shoulder. Many are so excited to own their own business that they often don’t sit and contemplate the things that they’re going to need in order to ensure that their business is a success. One thing that many forget about is the printer. The Role of the Printer In Business When you’ve got a business, having a high quality printer is very important. Almost all businesses can make constant use of a printer. Say, for instance, that you’re a carpenter. You may at first believe that a carpenter would have no need of a printer, but this is not so. A carpenter often needs to print out their invoices, or needs to print out a list of materials that is needed. Some use printers to print out the diagram of what their proposed design would look like, while others use their printer to print business cards to pass out. If you have a printer that is just “okay”, you’ll like wind up having to purchase a new one in short order, as most printers that are good for home use don’t hold up enough to be able to print constantly, which is often something that home business owners find themselves doing. The Right Printer When you’re searching for a new printer, the first thing you need to figure out is what you need your printer to do. Do you need it to be able to simply print things? And what quality of items will you need it to print? Often if you’re only looking to print out invoices, you can get away with purchasing a less expensive printer than you would need if you were going to be printing photos or something in that vein. Do you need your printer to be able to scan or to fax as well? Printers that can do all three, print, copy, and fax, are often a bit more expensive than printers that are only designed to print, but the consumer also gets to save a bit of money as well, as they do not have to purchase three separate machines. Some, however, say that the printing quality in an all-in-one machine is not as good as it is for printers that only print. Once you’ve found the right printer for your business, make sure you figure out where you’re going to order your ink cartridges. Having a good supply of ink cartridges on hand is often very wise, so that you do not have to worry about running out of ink at an inopportune moment. Printers are very important in the business world, which is why your printer choice matters so much.

Troubleshoot Your Printer Tips We love our printers. We love the way they print our pictures and print our text. Pleasure or business, they certainly get a lot of use. And then it happens; you’re humming along having the best time and then out of the blue with no warning there is a problem, the paper is jammed or there are lights flashing or there is no ink on the paper. What do you do? Slamming the printer to the floor or against the wall is probably not the best option even though it might be tempting. You might have to call a tech in, but before that, look at the list below and see if you can fix the problem and save the overpriced hourly rate. Can You Say “Paper Jam”? You know the sound.  That sound of paper tearing and crunching all at the same time. You flip open the printer and, oh yeah, it’s as bad as it sounded. Fortunately, there is a way to fix the problem, and it doesn’t include a chainsaw or a sledge hammer. Turn off the machine and pull the paper gently in the same direction as the paper path. What you don’t want to do is pull the paper backwards - doing that could mess up your printer for ever. Cancel the job on your computer, and send it again. How Much Paper Will Go Through the Printer at One Time? Oh how many ways can we spell frustration? You are almost finished with a printing session; the boss has already looked in three times to see if you’re finished and then, all the paper just fed through the printer at one time. This can’t be good. Can’t help you this time, but here are a couple hints to maybe keep this from happening again. Fan the paper before you load it into the printer, this will separate the sheets. Humidity can cause the paper to stick together so storing it in a dry, cool place will help. Hey Ma, Look!  No Words! You have installed a new cartridge, and after printing the first sheet – nothing! There’s not a single letter on the page. Two things might have happened. Are you sure you got every bit of the sticker off the cartridge before you put it in the printer?  If you did then the other thing to do is clean the print head. There’s a function for that installed in the printer. Running the print head cleaner will get any air bubbles out. Why Does My Face Look So Grainy? Guess what, your printer might not be at fault on this one. If the image quality is low, then the print quality will be low. Images need to be at least 300 dpi. Any dots per inch (dpi) lower than 300 will result in a grainy print. A Smudgy Printout Are you printing images that contain a lot of vibrant, bright colors? You could have the wrong setting for the paper selected. Text printing should not be done with the setting at the highest level. If you are using photo paper, make sure you are not using the regular setting. We know this is a small list of what can make your mild mannered printer go crazy, but it’s a good starting place.
