The key to any successful business is to make more money than you spend. Cost-cutting business practices are important. This can be accomplished in a variety of ways, especially when it comes to offices supplies. A reliable, efficient and affordable business printer can make a huge difference on your bottom line. The following tips will help you find the perfect printer for your business.

Size. Larger businesses require larger printers because the influx of work and printing necessity is much higher. If you own a small business, you don’t necessarily need a large printer. Large printers are far more expensive to purchase and to maintain. Consider purchasing a smaller printer that is specifically designed for small business. Most small business printers have scanning, printing, faxing and copying capabilities. You can purchase these all-in-one printers with built-in wireless networking as well.
Print Quality. As a business, high print quality is essential. You want to be able to print high-quality documents for business-to-business dealings as well as for marketing purposes and for interacting with your customers. Poorly printed documents will give your business a poor image. Purchase a printer with high resolution and color capabilities. Though it might be a little bit more expensive, it will go along way when you get start developing marketing materials.
Print Speed. In today’s fast-paced and technologically advanced business world, you want a printer that will print documents fast and easy. High quality, accurate color and fast print speeds are three important aspects for any business printer. Don’t sell yourself short. Otherwise, you’ll end up standing around and waiting for your next big print job to finish. This wastes time and wastes money. A print speed of 30 ppm is sufficient.
Low-maintenance. Maintenance is key because the more maintenance calls you have to make in order to fix your printer will add up quickly and end up costing you a bundle. Larger printers tend to need more maintenance than smaller printers simply because they have more components. It will be beneficial for you in the long run if you can purchase a smaller printer to handle all of your printing needs. If you can get away with using refurbished printer cartridges as well, you can save even more money. Refurbished printer cartridges cost much less than newer cartridges and the printing quality is comparable as well.
Value for dollar. These days, printers come in all shapes and sizes. They do more than we ever thought possible. You can scan, copy, print and fax on one machine. Some printers offer additional features as well. Don’t get lost in the hype. If you can purchase a printer that does exactly what you need it to do, then don’t waste money on additional bells and whistles. Prices of printers vary due to size, speed, printing quality and capabilities. Make a list of exactly what you are looking for in a business printer. If you find a printer that satisfies everything on your list for a reasonable price, buy it.

- What Type of Printer Should I Choose for my Small Business?
- When you have a small business, there are many decisions that you need to make, including decisions about who is going to handle your taxes, where your business is going to be located, and, of course, what type of technology you’ll need to get for your business. There are a few technological basics that any...
Climate change is a pressing issue for the earth and the preservation of humankind. It is imperative for everyone to take the certain steps needed to become more energy efficient. This means that everyone, from individuals to huge corporations, should “go green.” You can go green simply by recycling and saving energy at home. You can also go green at the office with green printing technology. Green printing technology may sound like a fad but it’s not. This is a green technology trend that will continue to grow. It is already making a huge impact, and many companies are taking notice.
Green printing technology is so popular, in fact, that technology companies from around the globe have been promoting new environmentally friendly printing solutions and products. HP, for example, now offers a printer that uses no solvents. Some companies have even begun to focus on textile printing because it is better for the environment.
There are also software programs you can purchase that focus primarily on green printing. This kind of green printing software will eliminate blank pages that are not needed for printing all by itself. The software will actually analyze the document for wasted space and fix it on its own. Additionally, you can also check and see how much paper and money you saved after each print job is complete. You can purchase green printing software from numerous manufacturers.
Green printing technology is available everywhere you look. You can purchase certain kinds of ink that are better for the environment. You can even purchase refurbished printer cartridges as well. Refurbished printer cartridges are less expensive than new ink cartridges and offer the same printing quality. This will allow you to save money and the environment at the same time. The next time you have to order printer cartridges, consider purchasing refurbished printer cartridges instead.
If you can’t afford to purchase green printing technology, there are other steps you can take to become more environmentally friendly. For example, whenever you print a document make sure that you use both sides of the paper. You waste paper when you print on just one side. Also, use recycled paper for all of your printing needs. If you can make your document available online instead of having to print a hardcopy, do so. This also reduces the amount of paper waste products. Never leave your printer and computer on all day or all night. If you aren’t using them, turn them off. This will save more energy that you realize.
Green printing technology and green business practices will continue to evolve. Maybe one day we will be living in a paperless world. But until then, we have to do everything possible in order to become more environmentally friendly. We must work together to save our environment for future generations. Use green printing technology at your home, at your office, and wherever you can.

If you’re like most, you probably want the best possible deal on HP ink cartridge selections. You may even find yourself hanging on, dealing with poor print quality, just so you can save a bit of money before you actually have to go shopping for ink. There are, though, better ways to get a great deal on HP ink cartridges for your home or business.
Start By Considering Where To Shop
It may seem slightly more convenient to pick up a cartridge the next time you’re at that big box brick and mortar office store, but the bottom line is that it’s often more expensive to handle it that way. Unless they have an amazing sale going, it’s almost always cheaper to shop online for all of your cartridge needs. With free shipping offers and great other perks, too, it can be more fun as well. Besides, almost anything beats not having to stand in line at the checkout counter, right?
Don’t Forget to Think About Ink Type
Just because you own an HP printer doesn’t mean you have to buy HP brand name ink. Online, you can find tons of compatible and remanufactured HP ink cartridge choices that will save you a lot of money in the long run. Keep in mind that you’ll need to shop around to get the best quality possible, but nearly any company that gives you a 100% guarantee will give you high quality choices that will last just as long as the brand name products. Wondering what the difference is? Compatible ink means a cartridge that wasn’t made by the manufacturer, but is designed using the same standards. Re-manufactured is like recycled. By taking an old ink cartridge, replacing any necessary parts, refilling it, and extensively testing it, you can get the ink you need and keep one more cartridge out of the landfill.
Buy More
It may not seem like it when you ring up the initial sale, but it really can be cheaper to buy things in bulk. Because many sites online can offer you several dollars off the total purchase price when you buy more at once, it may be worth it to spend the extra money and have a bit of ink on hand when you run out.
There are lots of different ways to save money on your HP ink cartridge choices, and for most small businesses and homes around the country, saving money is the name of the game these days.

A direct mail campaign can be pricey. You can ask others to help you out with it; companies that specialize in creating direct mail for your needs. You can also make your own direct mailings, but if your client list is rather large, it can become a big operation. However, if you learn a few tips and tricks and have a good printer, you might be able to pull it off.
Direct mail means needing to print – a lot. Knowing whether or not your printer will respond well to all the necessary printouts can depend. If you have a first-class printer, then it should hold up well. After all, printers are made to print. That is their purpose. So why invest in a printer that can’t hold up well after a meager thousand printings? A good printer should last you for several years and many, many prints. You can help increase your printer’s lifespan by giving it regular cleanings and using the correct paper and ink. By keeping it dirt, dust, and ink residue-free, it will hold up much longer and continue to give you quality prints.
There are also a few methods you can use in order to give your printer a bit of a reprieve (and your wallet as well). Keep your direct mail campaign simple. That means avoiding a lot of color and using a basic, but eye-catching design. By keeping the copies straightforward, you can save on ink and your machine won’t have to put in as much effort to print. Black and white is a good idea, as it will keep your printing costs down and mean less work for your printer. The same is true for your text. Keep what you have to say short and to the point.
Simple styles will hold a potential customer’s interest better – people tend to get turned off by overly flashy pieces. You can seek out templates for your document program in order to get ideas. Many also allow you to use clipart without charging, which means more money for you.
Instead of printing out large brochures or multiple fold-papers, give your printer another break by going smaller. Something such as a postcard or a letter that can go into a standard envelope are great choices. There is less for your printer to print, which means you can get more printouts for your dollar and keep your printer alive longer. Direct mail doesn’t have to be complicated – as long as the consumer knows what you want to offer them, that’s the important thing.
A good printer should be able to hold up under your direct mail project – especially if it is a newer version from a company with a solid reputation like Canon or HP. Treat your printer like the investment that it is, and you should get plenty of use from it. By keeping your designs simple, using less paper, and keeping your printer clean, you shouldn’t have any problems getting your direct mail campaign off the ground.

Have you taken a look at some of the shows that are on television now? There are many cooking shows on television, including ones that show you how to cook lunches or delicious dinners, and even ones that show you how to cook amazing desserts that make your mouth simply water to look at them. These desserts are often beautiful cupcakes and cakes that look like something that you’d never be able to make in your own kitchen. The truth, however, is that you can recreate some of these delicious confections in your own kitchen, simply by using your printer and HP ink cartridges.
The Design
There are a number of ways that you can use HP ink cartridges and your printer in order to create amazing cakes and cupcakes. The first trick is to print out a design that you like. There are a number of websites that you can use in order to print out templates for the cake that you like. These templates can make it very easy for you to be able to create a masterpiece of a cake, especially if you’re trying to cut out pieces of cake to make a design, such as when you’re making a child’s cartoon character cake. These templates are ideal for anyone who doesn’t have a steady hand or a great deal of experience in creating cakes and cupcakes.
Unique Ink
Did you know that you can get HP ink cartridges that are edible? It’s true! Edible ink is a great way for household cooks and bakers to be able to create amazing works of art with very little effort on their part. In 2003, an inventor figured out how to make ink edible so that people could put this type of HP ink cartridge in their printer and so that they could print out beautiful images that they could put directly onto a cake, which is ideal for someone who doesn’t have a steady hand with putting designs on a cake or cupcake.
You may have even seen cakes that use this unique ink in order to make creative designs on them. These cakes you may find in a bakery at your local supermarket. These are the types of cakes that have pictures of people on them or that have any sort of printed design on them. When you use edible HP ink cartridges, it is important to know that you can’t just put this ink onto a regular piece of paper. You will have to purchase special paper in order to be able to transfer the image that you print onto the cake or cupcakes that you are creating. One good thing, however, is that both the ink cartridges for edible ink and the special paper that you need are very inexpensive, allowing you to be able to recreate the masterpieces in the kitchen that you see on the television or at your local bakery, turning everyone into a master baker.

When you have a small business, there are many decisions that you need to make, including decisions about who is going to handle your taxes, where your business is going to be located, and, of course, what type of technology you’ll need to get for your business. There are a few technological basics that any small business needs: a computer, either a desktop or a laptop, and a printer.
The Importance of a Printer
While some small business owners immediately realize that they’ll need a printer, others do not think that they’ll need a printer until, of course, they find that they do. Take, for instance, contractors. Who would immediately think that a contractor needs to have a printer handy? Of course, a printer comes in extremely handily for a printer who needs to print out invoices and estimates.
Various Types of Printers
There are a number of different types of prints that you can select from. The first thing that you might want to think about when looking at printers for your small business is what you’ll be using your printer for. Will you simply be printing things, or will you need to be able to copy things on your printer as well. And are you going to need to fax something? If so, then you may want to get a printer that enables you to be able to print, scan, and fax your documents. These type of all-in-one printers are often very popular for people who have small businesses.
One thing that is taking the small business world by storm are wireless printers. Wireless printers are now available from almost every major printer manufacturer, including Canon and Epson. These printers can be set up in any room and set for wireless printing capability. Then any person in the office can print from one printer without having to deal with the hassle of setting up a whole network.
The Size
It is also good to keep in mind the size of the printer you’re going to need. Do you have a large area in your office? If you do, and you’re going to be doing a great deal of printing and copying, you may want to look at professional printer options. These printers often cost a bit more, but are heavy-duty work machines and are able to get things printed reliable for a very long time. If you have a small area, and you don’t anticipate having to print or copy a huge amount of work on a daily basis, one of the smaller business printers should work well for your needs, as it is more compact and it will still be able to handle the work that you need it to do.
If you own a small business and are looking for a printer, think about what needs you have for it and how much space you have. This will help you to narrow down your options into a manageable amount to choose from.

Small businesses provide so many benefits and services; they are vital components of the economy. But small businesses usually have small budgets, and cutting costs is a normal part of every workday. Each purchase is important and each piece of equipment needs to be useful, durable, and cost-effective. A small business owner needs to ask of each purchase, “Do I really need this? What will it do for my business, and does it fit into my budget?” Many owners ask this of label makers. Are they necessary for your business?
The answer to this question depends on what specific type of business you run and what activities a label printer would facilitate. If you would only need labels to mark files or storage items, hand-printed or typed labels that can be bought at any office supply store are perfectly sufficient. If, on the other hand, your business handles mailings and shipping or needs labels for files, CDs, DVDs, barcodes, or name badges on a regular basis, a label printer will save you time and money.
Label printers have a number of advantages for the small business owner. They create professional, high-quality labels that are essential for helping provide a polished image for your business. Many are equipped with built-in label cutters so you have clean edges each time, and they can help you label just about anything you could need. Various sizes and types of labels are easily available. In addition, they are compact and can easily fit on your desk or counter without taking up needed space.
The cost benefits are equally impressive: you can print only the number of labels that you need. For instance, if you need a name badge for a visitor, you simply print it without wasting a whole sheet. You do not have to have mailing or shipping labels printed professionally, which can save a tremendous amount of money. And because label printers are fast, you save time, which helps you get back to work sooner. Typically, you can print 50-70 labels per minute, depending on the text.
Another benefit is that label printers include software that is user-friendly and easy to install. With this, you can create customized labels with your choice of fonts, graphics, barcodes, and a host of logos, templates, and formatting options from which to choose. You connect to your PC with the included USB cable, and many label printers allow you to print from other devices, such as your computer.
You can easily incorporate (or even develop) your own company logo on each label. The branding opportunity here is great: add your logo and name to shipping labels, badges, address labels, and much more. This is great exposure for your business.
The cost of a label printer is relatively inexpensive, especially given the number of features and options they can provide to small business owners. What will it do for your business? It will easily handle all your labeling needs. Will it fit into your budget? Yes. This is exactly the type of purchase that benefits small businesses. Just don't forget to have ink cartridges stocked so you can always print labels when you need to.

Printers used to be able to do one thing: print. Now, however, they can be made to encompass a wide range of needs. What used to be separate entities are now incorporated into the newest printers, ultimately saving time and just as importantly, money.
If you have a home business, obtaining an all in one printer can be a really smart move. But depending upon your business, sometimes you might buy more than you need. It is important to know what features you want and need the most and which printers can provide you with those features – and first-rate ones at that.
Printing abilities and quality should be at the top of your list. Why purchase a printer that fails to print well? These days inkjet printers are as fast as laser printers (some of them even faster) and don’t take any time to warm up the way laser printers do. Unlike laser printers, it is easier and cheaper for them to print in both black ink and color ink. If you plan on doing a lot of color printing, you will want a printer to offer crystal clear color printing. Ask a salesperson at a retailer if you could see a demo in order to get a first hand look at the printer’s quality and speed.
Scanners allow people to obtain digital copies of papers they may need to send to clients. In some cases, this isn’t an important piece of equipment, but for others, it can be indispensable. It allows you to send documents to people that are far away in a matter of seconds compared to what it would take through the mail. Scanners also give you the ability to make digital copies of documents for your own records; a safe bet should something ever happen to the original paper versions.
Copiers can save you hundreds of dollars over time. Rather than taking your documents to a location to obtain copies, you can simply slip your document into your all in one printer and get as many as you need. Many printers have very good copying quality, but you can always ask for a demo of this as well in order to make sure. If your business requires you to make copies, this is an ideal addition to a printer to have.
All in one printers also come with fax machine abilities as well, another money and time saving piece of equipment you may need. You no longer have to mail anything and your clients as well as you can receive paper printouts of documents. Past fax machines required special fax paper and the print quality was less than impressive. That is not the case here.
Many home businesses require all of these in order to function smoothly and properly. In most cases, purchasing an all in one printer is a smart choice because not only does it give you all of these abilities, but many of them are competitively priced at very affordable ranges. In some cases, you may find two printers priced the same, but one is an all in one while the other is not. Might as well go all out – you never know when you’ll need a fax machine.

Expanding your business is no easy task. But for those business owners who decide that expansion is the right move, one must make careful decisions when looking at the resources currently used in the business and be practical when adding or eliminating resources. Even small decisions made in the wrong direction can be the difference between growth and defeat.
One such resource that is often misused or just plain overlooked is the office printer. Utilized properly and efficiently, this piece of equipment can save money, manpower and prevent adding unnecessary expenses that most business owners may feel are unavoidable. Here are just 3 ways your office printer can help you expand your business without having to expand your wallet:
- Postage…Do more in less time
- Producing New Marketing Materials In-House...Save $$
- Purchase an All-in-One Printer…the Upgrade that keeps on giving
Postage is a common expense for most small businesses that increases dramatically when adding the actual cost of postage to the labor involved getting mailings out. Larger businesses endure the expense of procuring their own postage meter from the United States Postal Service and loading it with pre-paid postage via telephone or online. This is efficient, but also costly. Small business owners make trips to the Post Office which is cost effective, but not as efficient. The solution? Register the business and create an account with the U.S. Postal Service online www.usps.com. Business owners can buy stamps, create mailing lists and print postage right from the office printer and request a pickup of the mail each day. Printing postage from your office printer saves time and money.
Producing New Marketing Materials In-House can seem quite daunting. As well it is tempting to outsource this task to a mass print company or copy store in an effort to save time. The problem is that although some manpower is conserved, one usually must purchase a large volume of materials to see any value. Print items such as business cards, letterhead, etc. that will not change are worth the volume. NEW Marketing Materials, Flyers and Brochures announcing the expansion, specials or promotions are not needed in large quantities, as they will change over time to reflect new promotions and ads as your expansion progresses. Tip: Print these items using black ink on colored paper to control the cost of ink.
Purchase an All-in-One-Printer; otherwise know as a Print/Copy/Fax machine. Although this is a suggested expense, it is one piece of equipment that a growing small business cannot do without. An All-in-One will allow you to streamline the way that your company paper trail is handled as a one stop shop for multiple tasks, saving time. Having only one machine will save electricity; thus saving money. Finally, one machine, one type of ink; needless to say the potential for savings are endless.
Proper use of your office printer can aid your expansion, save time and money; Money that perhaps in the not-so-distant future could be used to take a well deserved vacation.

It is almost impossible to find an office anywhere that does not have some sort of printer; whether it is an all-in-one, which does just about everything, or a small simple one to just print documents. Either way, it most likely will be one of the three main kinds of printers used today in most homes and offices: laser, inkjet, or dot matrix.
A lot of people consider the dot matrix printers to be outdated and past their prime. However, they do have their uses and can be more reliable at times than their counterparts. The print quality cannot really be compared to the laser or inkjet printers, but many manufacturing companies use them still to print invoices and labels.
The dot matrix printer is considered an “impact” printer. This is because it actually strikes the paper as it prints, much like a typewriter. Continuous feeding paper can be used to print several carbon copies; requiring less ink in the process. Printing invoices in this manner is very convenient, because multiple copies in various colors can be printed all at once and distributed immediately. These printers tend to be slow and use only a few fonts, so they are gradually becoming identifiable with only certain industries.
The laser printer is probably more popular in large offices and corporations. If a small office is able to buy one, they have the advantage of higher resolution and thus, better quality documents. These printers tend to be more expensive than inkjets initially, but their “toner” cartridges usually last longer than the ink cartridges used for inkjet printers. That isn’t to say that the cartridges for laser printers aren’t expensive; they are. The maintenance of these machines can be quite expensive too; however, if quality is most important and money isn’t the issue, then a laser printer is the way to go.
Unlike laser printers, inkjets usually cost less to initially buy. However, since the printers themselves are relatively cheap, some feel the manufacturing companies are making up for the lower prices in the customer’s cost of ink. Some companies even put a “chip” in their cartridges to let the printer know when it is out of ink. Although these cartridges can be refilled by the consumer, the printer will not work because the chip still communicates that it is empty.
Even with expensive inks that smudge when they get wet, the inkjet printers do have some advantages. They don’t have to be “warmed up” to begin printing like the laser printers, and they print better photos. There are also inks available that tend to smudge less, although they are not as readily accessible as regular ink. The inkjet is a lot quieter than the dot matrix and much faster too.
All these types of printers have good and bad characteristics, depending on the opinion of the person using them. Some are expensive but have better quality, while others cost less but are limited in their functions. No matter which one is being used, they all have their purpose and fulfill it well.
